Description
A second volume (following the previous 2019 collection) compiling the contemporary artwork/illustrations of auteur comics artist Hironori Kikuchi. Published by independent Tokyo-based bookseller/publisher Taco Ché. Consisting of single page illustrations, they describe the work:
“Just as Monet continued to paint water lilies, Hironori Kikuchi continues to play variations on his dream world. Following the first collection, we can see how frequently appearing motifs such as celestial bodies, ruins, and half-human and half-beasts are repeatedly painted, transforming and mutating to create a magnificent universe.”
Since his debut in the manga magazine Garo in 1995, manga artist Kikuchi Hironori has drawn surreal stories with pop characters, and has published books such as Bakuretsu Meditation Bakitoma Road, Getatsuman, and Heromin’s Summer Vacation, which have also been translated into French in recent years. More information about Kikuchi’s english releases is given in the description for Alchemical Graphics 1.
From around 2011, he began to use manga techniques and meticulous handwork to create a new style of drawing images that he saw in his dreams or that came to his mind.
This book contains 92 pieces, including works that he finally completed after continuing to work on them from the early days of drawing with this technique, as well as works he created after his first art book.
