Shipping and Orders FAQ

We are posting orders on an approximately monthly basis. That means, orders are batched and shipped out during approximately 1-2 weeks of the month. This means that potentially, your order may ship out some weeks after it is placed (if it is too late to include it in that month’s batch, for example). If not every book from your order is available (for instance preorder titles), then the order will not ship until all titles become available to ship.

Regarding order cancellations, we can cancel and refund orders within a limited timeframe, but there is a mandatory 10% restocking fee that is deducted from the refund to cover transaction fees and material costs associated with the order. Once shipped, in general orders can no longer be modified, cancelled, or refunded.

Please check your shipping address when ordering, it is difficult and in general may not be possible for me to change this after your order is placed.

If orders are returned by the post office due to incorrect address etc, then I will attempt to contact you. If the books are shipped again there will be an additional separate shipping invoice to cover the second shipment. If the post office discards the book or it is not returned, (or it is returned but in a less than new condition) the book may not be able to be reshipped, and even in that eventuality the order will not be refunded (as stated above: once shipped, in general orders can no longer be modified, cancelled, or refunded).

We ship domestically using USPS media mail, and internationally to most countries (anywhere USPS ships to). Currently we are onboarding some new titles with an EU fulfillment partner so international orders may ship from either location depending on what is most convenient. Please note that we do NOT arbitrarily set shipping costs on our orders. We charge based on the actual rates from the post office. The order shipping fee is an amalgam approximation based on the post office rates, material and labor costs of order packing, and the transaction fee levied by online payment processors.

For international orders, your country may levy customs duties or other taxes on imports. Any such costs are not borne by Glacier Bay Books, and are your responsibility to pay.

Submissions FAQ

Until further notice, Glacier Bay Books does not have an open submissions policy at this time. Glacier Bay is a very small publishing outfit, and I do not have the capacity to take on additional work. That said, we still occasionally receive queries regarding submissions. If you still wish / intend to submit work for consideration then here are some points for consideration:

  • Submissions should include the full work, or at least complete samples of the work, for consideration. However they should not include source / full resolution data. They should ideally also include a brief text explaining the work + author context, and any other information that would help understand the publishing situation of the work.
  • If you insist on submitting work, please familiarize yourself with the work and authors Glacier Bay already publishes. Submissions are most likely to be successful if they fit into the kind of titles that we are already publishing. If your work does not fit at all with any of the publishing ethos of Glacier Bay Books, then this may be a sign we are not the right publisher for your piece.
  • Glacier Bay Books is a small publisher run by one person, and unfortunately I cannot guarantee that I will be able to respond to submissions emails. Indeed, I cannot even guarantee that I will be able to read your email.

The guidelines provided here are helpful suggestions that may apply when submitting work to other publishers as well. Please do not misconstrue these guidelines as suggesting that in fact Glacier Bay Books is open to submissions, this information is only provided as generically helpful information based on previous experience with artists looking for submissions advice.
